About the Project

Luxury Lakefront Cottage Interior Design and Beyond

Set on the shores of Jack Lake near Burk’s Falls, Ontario, this private cottage residence is designed as a large-scale retreat for group living. At its core is a spacious open-concept living area that integrates the entrance zone, fireplace, kitchen, dining, and lounge spaces into one cohesive environment. The home accommodates up to 18 guests across eight bedrooms, balancing privacy with shared experience within a natural forest setting.

Developed from the ground up over four years, the interior approach emphasizes spatial clarity, natural materials, and a restrained palette, creating a calm and timeless atmosphere. Architectural design by Michael Zakay, Mezza Studio.

The residence is tailored for entertaining and extended stays, featuring indoor and outdoor dining, a custom firepit lounge, sauna, children’s play areas, and a four-car garage. A private boathouse with direct lake access supports boating and waterfront living.

Custom interior elements include eight original paintings created specifically for the project, adding a curated artistic layer to this luxury cottage retreat.
